I do, too. Reader, some days, the world feels full off danger. This affects our nervous systems.
The other day, I was working in a public space with a friend/business collaborator. As she and I were deep in discussion, a balloon suddenly burst nearby. The moment I heard the sound, which was behind me, I thought it was a gunshot and I was thrown into deep fear. The kind of fear that makes your body go numb. I could see that she was experiencing something similar. We took a deep breath and carried on but ever since, I've been thinking about safety and the lack thereof.
There have always been threats in the world but these past couple of years have put us all on high alert for so many reasons.
It's as if there is something lurking behind every tree, in the parking lot, in the schools, from other people, and within our bodies. How can we counter the resulting feelings - fear, grief, anxiety, dread, sadness, and frustration?
I don't have the complete answer but I do know something that helps. It's creating a safe space within ourselves. Learning how to handle the complexities of the world in healthy ways. One way to do that is to weave a creative practice into your life, however that looks for you. Building with your hands, painting on canvas, bringing beautiful words together, celebrating with song - these kinds of things help humans process. They help us to hold the ugly, perilous things of the world and make our peace with them. Creativity doesn't solve everything but it does make you stronger and more resilient, allowing you to walk through the world with a little less fear and a lot more confidence in yourself.
Today, I offer this challenge: can you sing yourself free? Can you paint yourself home? Can you build a fortress within yourself? Creativity can help you do this, you know. Give it a try. I'll be over here doing the same and I'd love to know your thoughts and how that might look for you. Reply to this email and let me know.
If you need a starting place, I'd love to welcome you into my workshop, A Call to Create. In this safe and beautiful space, we dive deep and hold each other up. We face our fears. We'll won't be starting again until September but in the meantime, you can sign up for my waiting list to learn when it's ready. Until then, I invite you to subscribe to my YouTube channel for inspiration. Let's create something important together - a different way of being in the world.
I'm wishing you every good thing, Robin xoxoxoxox

Take my word for it, each time you go through the content or work a little more on your incredible creations, it's a different experience and it just gets better and better. It is my dearest wish that...
Hola! I've recently returned from Mexico and I've been working on my Spanish. Want to meet me on Duolingo? Brushing up on Spanish is just one way I've been learning something new. I find that creating new things in my life gives each day more depth and meaning and I REALLY DIG THAT. A couple of days ago, I facilitated a creative workshop with Mindful Soul Center, which was fabulous and challenged my tech skills as I balanced the Zoom meeting, the slides, and tried to make sure I was looking...
